PoolPilot Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 12, 2026

PoolPilot is developed by Luke McNeel-Caird. This policy describes the PoolPilot Android beta and its personal pool-care features.

Information you save

PoolPilot saves your pool profile answers, pool name, equipment notes and maintenance records, chosen tasks and due dates, water-test measurements and notes, selected photos, cleaner screenshots, battery and status entries, and cleaner history on your device. It uses this information to organize your pool details and show an answer-based roadmap. Photos do not automatically identify equipment.

The standard Android beta does not require an account and does not upload your pool profile, photos, or cleaner log to developer servers. It does not include advertising or analytics tracking and does not sell this information.

Photos and camera

You choose individual photos and screenshots using Android's system photo picker. PoolPilot keeps copies in its own app storage so they remain available. Camera access is requested only when you choose to take a pool or equipment photo. You can use the app without adding photos or allowing camera access.

Optional screenshot reader

Development versions can connect to a separately configured Windows screenshot reader. If that connection is available and you choose to read a screenshot, the selected image is sent to that reader, which extracts visible text and processes the image in memory. The normal Google Play beta has no developer-hosted screenshot reader. Manually entered readings do not need this connection.

Links and feedback

PoolPilot can open the PoolPilot website or shopping searches in your browser. Those services have their own privacy practices. Choosing “Send beta feedback” opens your email app; nothing is sent until you send the email yourself. If you send feedback, the developer receives your email address and whatever information you include, and uses it to respond and improve PoolPilot. Avoid including sensitive information you do not want to share.

Backup and restore

You can export a backup file containing your saved records and photos, and choose where to keep or share it using your device. PoolPilot does not automatically upload this file. If you choose a cloud provider or another app, that service handles the file under its own privacy practices. Backups are not encrypted by PoolPilot, so keep them private. Restoring a chosen backup replaces the current app records after your confirmation.

Retention and deletion

Saved pool information stays in the app until you clear it or remove the app. In More, choose “Clear my PoolPilot data” and confirm to remove the profile, photos, tasks, water tests, equipment records, screenshots, and cleaner history. Backup copies you exported remain wherever you chose to keep them; delete those copies separately if you no longer want them. Android automatic cloud backup is disabled for this beta. PoolPilot does not provide account creation. To request removal of feedback emails held by the developer, contact info@playdunkball.com.

Children

PoolPilot is intended for adult pool owners and is not directed to children.

Changes and contact

This policy may be updated as the app changes. Updated policies will show a new effective date.
